Does Kennedy Stand A Chance?

I would have to say this match up is proof there should be no league title game. Ansonia already beat this team head to head, quite handily. How many of you will actually go to this game to watch Ansonia claim another title in the first half. I understand that the game represents the best of the Brass against the best of the Copper. However, is Kennedy really the best? Seriously, if you tell me that this game has any merit at this point, I would disagree with you heavily. Let's hear your predictions on the game and if anyone is up for it, please make an argument on why this game should be played.

I understand the complaint on the game... but honestly, IT'S A CHAMPIONSHIP GAME. Kennedy may never get a chance to play for a State Championship so a league championship is just as good. These are 14-18 year old High School kids who wanna play football. It doesn't matter if you have 3 games in so many days, they're 17 years old! They are durable!! Unless a kid has a broken ankle or heavy injury than that kid obviously can't play.

I know the risk of injury comes into play, but that's the risk you take for A CHAMPIONSHIP. I know it may not mean much to Ansonia because they always compete for State Championships, but for Kennedy this is a step in that direction. GAME ON.

Ansonia 48, Kennedy 26

I hear your point, but I think your missing mine. It is pointless to make two teams that already played eachother play again. I thinks it great and all that Kennedy gets to play for a championship, but at who's expense. Yeah Ansonia does play for state championships almost every year. Why should they have to be inconvienenced with this mockery of a game? Because the powers to be want the not so fortunate to have agame they could look forward to? Maybe teams should win games during the regular season instead of playing for a championship with a losing record. This only supports societies "participation trophy" attitude. Furthermore, why would Kennedy, or anybody for that matter, want to get buried by a team twice in one season. If these two teams meet in states, thats a different story. The NVL should crown a Brass champion and a Copper champion. The overall league title goes to the best head to head team. In the event of a ten game season in which the two teams have not played eachother, then an extra game should determine the champion.

Teams like Ansonia have more important things to work on istead of having to play this game just so Kennedy can feel good.

I see what you are saying, but the bottomline is this is how it's done at the college level and no one complains. Certain conferences play a championship game and I agree the two BEST teams should play, but look at the Big 12 Conference. In this conference, something whacky has happened to the nature of what has happened in the NVL (obviously not with records but something similar).

In other conferences I believe, if the two best teams have played during the season then they play again in the championship (I don't know exactly what conference but it has happened).

I understand your point but this is High School football. These kids are not making 1.5 million or even getting scholarships yet, they are playing football and to them that's all that matters... in my opinion. I just think you should play the Championship Game regardless.

Sometimes it is screwy like this season with every other team in the Brass Division having a better record than Kennedy except Wilby, and sometimes it works out perfectly like it did in 2005 & 2006 with Holy Cross v. Woodland & Holy Cross v. Ansonia. I don't think it should be scrapped because it isn't always perfect, no matter how we argue or disagree, it is still a CHAMPIONSHIP to be won... Someone go win it.
