Why they are the "Top 3"

The reason I put Ansonia at #1, in my opinion, is obvious. They started the season with two consecutive state championships and have not lost a game since Woodland beat them in 2005. Although they are clearly not as dominating as the past two years, they've shown no reason why they aren't the #1 team in the NVL. I do think they are beatable and I am predicting at least 1 loss for them this season, Seymour or Crosby. My gut tells me that Crosby will probably be the team to do it, but I also think that coaching matters and Seymour definitely trumps Crosby in that aspect. They will remain #1 for now.
Seymour is #2 because, like Ansonia, they are coming off a championship season and remain undefeated this year. Seymour is always strong and let's face it, Spoony and Kelo get it done. Until they lose I like them as #2.
Crosby, Crosby, Crosby. I don't know what to think. I've heard the hype before and have never witnessed them prove anything. However, they are undefeated and they seem to be handling teams well. The HC game was close because of the conditions, but if it were a dry night they might have hung 50 on them. Until they beat a "top tier" team I will leave them at #3.

You lost me when you said your gut tells you Crosby will knock off Ansonia, but Seymour is better than Crosby because of coaching. So, does that mean Ansonia's coaches are worst then both Seymour and Crosby's? I agree with your top three, but I would always take Ansonia's coaches over any team in the NVL. Their track record proves it.

No, no, no. I was comparing Seymour's coaches to Crosby's. Meaning that could be the difference in who beats Ansonia. I did not and would not bad mouth Ansonia's coaching staff.

OK, my bad. Best of luck with the "NEW" NVL Blog. I look forward to reading and posting on it. As a former player and coach in the league, I enjoy following the NVL teams and the story lines with each new season. However, I will always bleed Charger blue. Best of Luck.

I feel that the only thing that could get in the way of Crosby knocking off AHS or SHS is their discipline. Do they have what it takes to reach down deep, if they're behind late, and come up with what they need to get the job done? They have some terrific athletes, but AHS and SHS do also, and although they're not what they were last year, they are still very good teams. I like what I have seen the last couple of years from Crosby and I think they are heading in the right direction. We'll see real soon.

The NVL really needs another team to step up and play at the level of Ansonia and Seymour. It would be great if Crosby can hang with Seymour this week and have the game come down to the last posession. I doubt it though, I see Seymour by three scores.

I think Seymour vs. Crosby is going to be an absolute shoot out and I rate this game as a pick'em at this point. I definitely don't see Seymour winning by 3 scores.
