Watertown smoked Sacred Heart. You have to wonder what's going on with the Hearts. They have very good talent, a coach with an impressive resume and yet they can't win a game. Someone please tell me what is going on over there.
Ansonia did what they do.....win big. Can Crosby de-thrown Ansonia or will Seymour be left to do it in Week 10? From what I understand, Holy Cross should be a hospital not a High School. Rumors have them plagued with injuries including Ewald and Cronin. I hope those two young men are OK, but let's be honest, HC stinks with or without injuries.
Crosby rolled by Naugy with ease. Naugy is BAD. It almost appears that they draw each play and formation in the dirt two seconds before they run it. What is Plasky doing? Crosby looked decent, but I have to say that they are not as good as the hype. They make alot of mistakes and do not seem like they understand the philosophy of a spread offense. They are very vulnerable on defense as well. This team will win games given the state of affairs in the NVL this year, but if you place them in the league 3 or 4 years ago playing against the better Ansonia, Woodland, Seymour and Holy Cross teams, they would be 6-4.
Seymour thumped Kennedy, what did you expect. I mean, this Osiecki kid is running, catching and throwing TD's. I never like to pick against Ansonia, but I think this might be the year Seymour thumps them. We'll see, that's for sure.
Finally, the last game of the week that took place Saturday afternoon. Woodland beat Wilby 21-6 in game that I heard was very slow going. Rumor also has it that Woodland's starting QB is out with a broken collarbone. Don't know how true, but that's what I heard. If so, this should make it pretty interesting next week when the Hawks take on the Crusaders.
I'm sure some of you disagree with some of the things I've said here. Let me have it, that's why we blog!

First, I am a Crosby superfan..Second they are not a spread team, they are undercenter--Gondek was 17-24 for 266.....Each of their receivers had solid days, no drops, no penalties, no turnovers, they played without Cunningham and Small, scored 40 points, and their defense gave up 7varsity points to a 3-win Naugatuck team....How do you figure that Crosby would only win 6games? Not to mention they should have beat Seymour if they didnt beat themselves.
They are under and in the gun. They mostly used twin, trips and empty sets against Naugy the other night. These sets are called SPREAD sets. Under or gun doesn't change that. Teams don't beat themselves, they get beat. Otherwise there would be a collum for that in the record books. Yes, Gondek and company put up some good numbers against a 3 win Naugy team. All 3 of those wins against teams with a combined record of !!1-17!! Not to mention Naugatuck has given up the second most points in the league all season. Spat out the stats against Seymour, please. When you want to measure a teams ability, you don't yell "good win" over bad teams and say "we beat ourselves" when you loose to good teams. I did say they would only win 6 games if the team they have now played teams like the 06-07 Ansonia, 04-05 Woodland and 05-06 HC teams. Your not hearing what I'm saying man. I got nothing against Crosby. I hear all the talkin, where's the walkin?
Crosby's 40 points Friday night against Naugatuck was the most the Bulldogs have scored on Naugy in 72 years, defeating the 1936 'Hounds 45-0.
Peerless, excellent comment on the spread, touche...voyce, what is your honest take on crosby?
I think Crosby is a very talented team that has not yet reached their full potential. In order for the Bulldogs to get to the next level they must learn to overcome adversity, learn to elevate their game when the contest has reached a critical stage. When challenged a team must answer that challenge and fire back harder.
The Seymour game showed the 'Dogs have some more growing to do. No matter what happened on the field, no matter how the official's calls went, you must focus, you cannot get distracted. Physcial ability can only take you so far. Your ability to mentally focus is what takes you to the next level.
I would love to see them reach that high level of performance but they need to grow that emotional part of themselves which brings victory in the big games.
I am also getting tired of hearing how Crosby beat themselves against Seymour. If beating yourself is dropping balls and getting stupid penalties than I guess your right. I call those 2 things making plays and being disciplined. If allowing 337 yards rushing one guy is beating yourself I guess your right. I call it bad defense.
Enough with what coulda been. Crosby is a good team with a legit shot to make the play-offs and compete with Ansonia in a couple of weeks if they don't "beat themselves".
Once again Voyce, you have said it perfectly. Could not agree with you more.
