Here goes:

Naugy/SH
Ouch!! This shouldn't be so tough to call but it is. Naugy looked awful against Seymour but SH hasn't gotten over the hump yet either. I'll take Naugy just cause i gotta take someone.
Naugy 26-20

Seymour/Crosby
Finally!!! Crosby gets a chance to show what its made of. They present some interesting problems for the Wildcats but not enough to come out on top. Crosby can't stop the run and Seymour can run with the best of them. Osiecki is the X factor here. Seymour 48-27

Wolcott/Ansonia
Another match-up of a wanna be and a been there. Wolcott is getting better but the Chargers escape this one. Closer than some may think. Ansonia 34-27

Kennedy/HC
Where oh where have the Crusaders gone? But i'll take them by an extra point.
HC 21-20

Woodland/Torrington
This one woulda been more fun if Anderson were still at Woodland. Dunaj gets another one here. woodland just isn't that good and Torrington is starting to believe. Torrington 21-12

Watertown/Wilby
I'll take the Indians here. Don't know enough about either team to make any interesting comments.
Watertown 41-14

Enjoy the games.

Stay tuned, I am researching the possibility of airing Crosby-Seymour rather than HC-Kennedy.

Several business considerations to be addressed before a switch can be made.

Game of the year thus far Voyce, would be a great move if you can convince the sponsors!!!!

Seymour people go to Nardelli's too!!!

Great Job Voyce!

Here's what I'm thinking.

Kennedy 26 HC 21
Two teams struggling to get it going. Kennedy has the athletes in this one so I'm giving them the win.

Naugy 13 Sacred Heart 35
SH's QB was out last week due to a concussion and is rumored not to be playing this week. I have info that says he is probable and without him, Berger may play QB. Naugy has no shot either way.

Seymour 48 Crosby 40
Clearly the game of the week, as many of you have already stated. Osciecki can score every time he touches the ball in this one. The difference in this game will be defense. Seymour has D and Crosby doesn't.

Watertown 35 Wilby 6

Wolcott 14 Ansonia 40
Wolcott is not ready to win this type of game yet. Ansonia is still to good of team.

Woodland 20 Torrington 13
Woodland will win some more games and this is one of them. Torringtom is much improved, but they aren't pulling off three in a row.

Week 5 NVL Picks: From the CT Football Insider
( http://ctfi.blogspot.com/ )

With the slate of games as follows, here are my picks:

Thursday
Naugy (2-2) @ Sacred Heart (0-4): The Hearts have let up 173 points. Naugatuck has given up 113. Defense is not a premium in this "battle." SHHS-31 NHS-23

Friday
Wolcott (3-1) @ Ansonia (4-0): Wolcott has looked good, and running for nearly 400 yards in a game is amazing. Still, I think that the Chargers will win a tight battle- Ansonia-28 Wolcott-14.

Seymour (4-0) @ Crosby (4-0): Crosby has speed and home field advantage. Seymour has an offense that has scored the 2nd most points in the state (St. Joe's #1...Crosby also in top 5), and a defense with a killer linebacking crew and some serious pass rush. The difference maker in this game is will be whether or not Crosby gets its running game going. Seymour-34 Crosby-28 (NAILBITER!!!)

Kennedy (0-4) @ HC (1-3): Even Frankies isn't enough to get me to the Stadium to watch this. Two words AWWWWWWWW-FUL! Kennedy gets its first win of the season. JFK - 20 HC - 8

Region 16 (1-3) @ Torrington (2-2): Copper Division bragging rights on the line for two rookie Head Coaches. Hawks haven't looked good. Raiders on a hot streak, with a strong running game. Red Raiders-34 Regional School District 16-24

Saturday
Watertown (3-1) @ Wilby (0-4): Watertown's running game rolls... Injuns 43 Scaredy Cats 13

Additionally, the Waterbury-Republican posted their video picks on Thurs. 10/9. I still can't get over this, because the unintentional comedy scale is pretty good in terms of local sports. While Mark Jaffee has become increasingly more comfortable on camera, he still doesn't quite seem sure of himself. The hand gestures this week kind of make me laugh. His partner looks like Wade Boggs. I'm just sayin'!

I can't believe that everyone on this site is picking SH over Naugatuck and have SH scoring over 30 pts. Let me go on record to say that SH will not beat Naugatuck.

Torrington wins big, Seymour win, Ansonia wins,
Why are people taking WoodLand over Coach Dunaj's maroon raiders?

Really excited about this weeks games. I guess we will findout answers to these questions

Can Crosby get it done?
I s Ansonia human after all?
Will Woodland make it to the NVL title game, again?

Nice job, Icallthem.........very good outing by the 'hounds.

Although I was not very impressed with the puppies, I have to admit i was wrong. I thought Sacred Heart was gonna take it to em. Good job Naugy.

IcallThemasIseethem said...

Don't let the score fool you either. SH scored on a kick return that Naugatuck squibbed and then SH scored 2 td's against the Naugy JV's.

Also, Naugatuck's leading rusher Corona was hurt on one of the first plays of the game and Naugatuck went with just a fullback the whole first half. The 2nd half they put Gee in at Halfback and he rushed for 159 yards on 12 carries. This game could have easily been 50-0. That being said, I thought SH had some very good players on both sides of the ball, but Naugatuck's offensive line is strong and mobile and they not only opened up some big holes inside but they got out in front of the sweeps as well.

Hounds continue to imprvoe and definitely will be in the running for the wide open copper division. Big game in the copper division tonight with Woodland @ Torrington.

IcallThemasIseethem said...

I love the slate of games tonight, here are my predictions:

Seymour over Crosby in a shootout although I wouldn't be surprised if Crosby won. I just think that Seymour's experience in the big games is going to win it for them.

Ansonia over Wolcott by 3 TD's. I think Wolcott is much improved but Ansonia does what it needs to do to win games.

I like Woodland over Torrington in a Kansas City Tie Breaker.

I think Kennedy gets their first win of the season over HC, 20-14.

Although the Brass division is clearly better than the Copper division, both divisional races will be very tight all year.

great picks icallthem....perfect

IcallThemasIseethem said...

Thanks Walker!

I was a little surprised myself because high school games don't always go the way they should, but these games went actually the way I thought they would.

IcallThemasIseethem said...

The Kennedy victory didn't surprise me at all. Nothing against HC, but Kennedy really has a solid team. I think they will knock off a few more teams this year.
